I have been endlessly worrying about the solar aspect of living in the truck. I found the Goal Zero Yeti 150 Handy Kit for ~$500. (Not sold anymore)
Below are the item contain in the Goal Zero Yeti 150 Handy Kit.
1-Goal Zero Yeti 150 Power Pack
1-Goal Zero Boulder 30 Solar Panel
1-Goal Zero Lite-A-Life LED light
It came with solar panels and all the hook ups necessary. I would love to be able to charge the starting battery with the solar panels, but I think the panels may be too small. But this set up looks good for the laptop and lights and rechargeable batteries, etc. This looks like the deal. I do not have to worry about tearing the truck up to rewire bunches of stuff.
One of the things I like about this tiny system is the size. Small. You can also add several more solar panels to this system (a max of four I think.). It is so cute and tiny and useful that it will be on the essentials list.
The Handy Kit no longer is sold, but this is the Goal Zero I used for 5 years with no problems. Lately I went more minimalist when the Goal Zero finally pooped out after 5 years of neglect and constant use and switched to an outdoor solar panel that has usb ports.
