A week sleeping in the truck. Here is what I have learned so far:

1. It is easier to keep warm than get warm. Cool means get a sweater. Chilly means wool hat. With no heat in the truck my first night was miserable. I thought I would warm up in the sleeping bags. No. The next night I started putting on layers very early and was warm all night.
2. I have packed WAY too many clothes. I was used to changing clothes every day for my job. In the 7 days/nights I have changed clothes infrequently … twice. I need one bag of clothes instead of two.
3. The inside of the camper gets dirty fast if I don’t take off shoes.
4. New habits (like where to put keys, taking down the lights before driving off, putting the tailgate props on the bed) need to be nurtured. It is not much fun to misplace your keys or drive off with things falling off and getting left behind.
5. Accept free food graciously. I do not have refrigeration, so a treat of a home cooked meal with a cold beer and ice cream for desert is wonderful. Don’t be too proud.
