Reading While Camping in the Truck

Most travelers have switched to portable devices instead of old fashioned books. A Kindle or Nook. They brag about how little room they use for hundreds of books. I nod and go into the thrift store to buy another bag of books. Why don’t I use the very nice Kindle that I have?

The free books available digitally have disappointed me.
I can’t figure out how to loan a digital book to someone.
There is little room in my budget for new books.
I can go into a thrift store or library and buy a bag of books for a few dollars.

Until bookbub. Free books for the Kindle or Google or Kobo. But before you sneer at free books look at this example.:

Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer

From a New York Times bestselling author comes this “page-turning, heart-stopping saga” (Publishers Weekly), a sweeping historical drama that follows Harry Clifton from the docks of post–World War I England to the bustle of New York City in the 1940s. “There isn’t a better storyteller alive” (Larry King).

$9.99 Free! Available for a limited time Amazon Apple Google Kobo

I think this bookhub is a winner. I selected my most read genres and saw a great list of free books and books that were priced at 1.99 and 2.99. The selection was great (lots of books I wanted to read) and the prices were affordable. Will I switch to digital for my reading addiction? I will let you know.

Are you familiar with “Project Gutenberg”? Good for the classics but I’m not sure about more contemporary literature.

I have a Kindle someone gave my brother but don’t have any interest in using it. Unless of course I was living on a sailboat in the Caribbean or a barge on the rivers of France . . . nope I want the real book by the bed. Just have to take all the boxes over to the community center when I finish them to pass along. I like bookmarks, and pages to fold down, and not even paper backs very often. Yes, VERY old school. A luddite through and through.

I’ve only read a few books over the summer but now that cooler weather is upon us I think my urge to curl up with a good book will kick into gear. Thank you for the free book. I used your link to download it and look forward to swiping the first page on my tablet tonight.
