Public Libraries and Truck Camping

Oh what a blessing the libraries are to people who are on the road.  I am seated at a table with a woman who is chomping wetly on a huge wad of gum. I am across from a man who is dozing off and snoring and waking himself up with a loud snort. Across the corner from me is a man who keeps scratching his belly and chortling. But … the wi-fi is free, the books are free, there is no wind, it is cool indoors when its hot outdoors, it is warm indoors when it is cold outdoors.

When you travel and use the libraries in tiny towns please donate. Donate money. $5 is great, $500 is better. Most of the time the libraries are underfunded. As a non-resident of the area you pay no taxes to help them out. Please please donate.Quartzsite Library

The Quartzsite Library is funded by the town of Quartzsite. The friends of the library have bought a copy machine, a printer,  and and of the large print books.

I use the libraries in every small town … Tucumcari, NM, Silver City, NM, Dolores, CO, etc. I try to drop off a few bucks at each one. Please help out, whenever you stop to use the wi-fi.

It is amazing how much a library can mean to the ‘quality’ of one’s life. Nice tribute and work of advocacy.

I do love the tiny towns with their underfunded libraries. And the librarians are wonderful. The library makes such a difference to the residents of the town and the travelers like me. Love them!

Couldn’t agree with you more. I just love going to libraries everywhere I am both home and overseas. Such a valuable and often totally underfunded vital resource for any community.
    Cheers

Agree! So if you can stick a dollar in their donation box next time. They are wonderful all over the world. And a special big blessing when I am in a country where I do not speak the language fluently. Have found that there are special “English” libraries in most major cities. Phew!
